The NTA conducts the JEE Mains exam twice a year – January and April. Any student who has passed his/her 12th grade is eligible to attempt the JEE examination. Further, this exam majorly focuses on engineering aspirants with the main subjects being Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
Additionally, there is an attempt limit for applying too, a student can attempt the Joint Entrance Examination for a maximum of three consecutive years after their 12th passing grade. This examination (Paper 1) serves as an eligibility test for the JEE Advanced, and Paper 2.
About the Syllabus of JEE Main 2025
The syllabus is purely based on the NCERT academics of 11th grade and 12th grade. The syllabus for JEE Mains 2025 is likely to be similar to the syllabus followed last year. Students can complete their registration online on the National Testing Agency (NTA) website. Furthermore, certain documents are required for the registration process like passport-sized photographs, the student’s signature, and several academic certificates.
The exam is conducted in two papers- the first is for admission for courses like BTech, and B.E Courses. The second paper is for admission to B.Arch and B.Plan courses.

Are There Any Changes in The JEE Main Exam Pattern?
The NTA has announced two key revisions to the JEE Main exam pattern 2025. Hence, according to the revised pattern, JEE Main 2025 Paper 1 (BE/BTech) will include 75 questions, including 25 each from Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Additionally, there will be no optional questions in section B of any topic. So, students must answer all five questions in section B from all three disciplines. Additionally, the marking scheme and overall score remain unchanged.
About the Examination Centers
The centers for the same examination are within the boundaries of India and in some selected international cities. Moreover, this year, 15 cities outside India are allotted for the students to attempt the examination. Also, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that around 13.8 lakh candidates have registered for the JEE Mains 2025 Session 1, which is the highest number of candidates to register themselves for attempting The Joint Entrance Examination ( JEE).
As per calculation, 1.6 lakh more students have registered for this examination than the previous year. To crack the exam, candidates must score 95 percentile which is around scoring between 170 to 180 in numbers. Candidates who are aspiring for the 99.9 percentile, must score somewhere between 240 and 280 marks. For, 2025 the dates of the examination for the first session are already out. Further, the examination will be held in January on several dates- the 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 28th, and 29th of January.
There are two shifts, in which the students are requested to attempt the paper. The first shift starts from 9 am to 12 noon and the second shift starts from 3 pm to 6 pm. For session 1, the admit cards will be released just three days before the examination will take place. Results are released through the normalization process. The overall percentile reveals the position and rank of the student. The All- India Rank (AIR) is used for further counselling.
