January 7, 2025Hulk Hogan

One time, Hulk Hogan was a big name in WWE, but on January 6th, the very same [Hulk] appeared again on Netflix’s Monday Night Raw, and it was not pretty since the has-been got ended up in loud boos from the fans. There it was, speaking to the fact that the image of the wrestler today bears little resemblance to his legacy.

A Cold Reception for the Icon

Rumor Palooza about Hogan’s Guest Appearance. He would breeze into the place, gracing it with the historical theme song Real American and once again being accompanied by Jimmy Hart; the crowd was anything but welcoming. Two and a half hours into the show, he made his way into the arena and seized the opportunity to plug his Real American Beer thing.

“I have had great partners, like Andre the Giant,” said Hogan before the crowd. “But today, WWE has partnered with Netflix-the more of the greatest tag team partner in all time.”

The audience, however, did not fall for his nostalgia or salesmanship. Instead, deafening booing drowned most of what he attempted to offer. One fan shared a clip on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “Watching Hulk Hogan get destroyed by thousands of booing fans as he tried to sell a sham Bud Light beer was just wow. And I was a Hulkamaniac.”

Backlash: Old Issues Surface

The reception wasn’t sudden or justifiable. The reputation totally took a hit when a tape was leaked in 2007 alluding to his use of racial slurs. This would get him expelled from the Hall of Fame by WWE in 2015, and let him back in three years later.

His vigorous support toward Donald Trump during the said presidential election made people even more divisive. Most of his fans now think that all his scandals off-screen overshadow his long travails in the ring.

A Night of Honored Legends

Hogan’s appearance wasn’t the only highlight of the evening. Several WWE icons graced the event and were met with far more enthusiastic reactions:

The Rock: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson charged up the audience in his opening act, later joining cousin Roman Reigns in the post-match celebration over Solo Sikoa.
John Cena: Cena stirred the fans by announcing his retirement tour in 2025 and officially entered himself for the Royal Rumble.
The Undertaker: Backstage to congratulate Rhea Ripley after defeating Liv Morgan, The Undertaker made an under-the-table appearance.

These moments reminded fans why these legends remain beloved, highlighting the stark contrast with Hogan’s reception.

Exciting Matches Add Thrills

Yeah, the matches were nostalgia, but the real-life action was:

  • Jey Uso and Drew McIntyre: Uso struck a brutal win against the winner, well hypefilling the crowd.
  • CM Punk with Seth Rollins: An entirely cruel main event takes place where he punishes Rollins through a high-staked clash.
  • Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan: Ripley is thus winning once again with impressive dominance.

These bouts kept fans on the edge of their seats and balanced the evening with adrenaline-filled moments.

Hogan’s Legacy: Who Likes It, and Who Doesn’t?

Hogan’s very presence spurred debate about wrestling legends and their interaction with the modern world. His legacy clearly remains in WWE’s past books; outside the ring, however, scandals add to the ever-ruining fan to wrestler relationship.

For fans raised as Hulkamaniacs, it was sweet and sad to see Hogan rejected by the present-day WWE Universe. One fan put it this way: “I used to be a Hulkamaniac, but the times have changed, and so have we.”
